Your new role
As a Senior Buyer, you will take ownership of managing a significant spend portfolio of circa £20 million annually and line managing a small team of Buyers and Planners. You'll lead the end-to-end procurement process, including identifying opportunities for cost savings, negotiating terms, and ensuring suppliers meet quality and delivery expectations. You will develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key suppliers to drive value and ensure consistent service delivery. Working with cross-functional teams such as operations, finance, and supply chain, you'll help align procurement strategies with broader business goals. This role is perfect for someone with experience in a distribution or e-commerce environment, who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is commercially astute. Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing supplier selection, tendering, and contract negotiations
  • Monitoring supplier performance and resolving any issues promptly
  • Analysing spend data to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and optimise inventory
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and industry regulations
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function
  • Managing a small procurement & supply chain team


What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a similar procurement / supply chain role, preferably within a distribution or e-commerce environment
  • Previous experience of managing a team
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills
  • Commercially aware with solid financial acumen
  • Ideally CIPS Level 4 qualified (or equivalent)
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a high-value spend portfolio efficiently and strategically
