At Papdale Primary School, we believe that: “Together, we can inspire, achieve and grow.” We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and collaboratively lead the school’s non-teaching operations, helping us deliver an outstanding environment for pupils and staff alike.

This is an exciting opportunity to ensure our teams are supported, our finances are managed effectively, and our school environment is safe, welcoming, and fully resourced for learning and wellbeing.

In this role, you will lead and manage school support staff, including administration teams. Support the Head Teacher in the management of the school’s budget, providing accurate and timely financial information. Oversee school systems, ICT support, and office services ensuring smooth daily operations. Ensure health, safety, and property management are of the highest standard, and contribute to the School Improvement Plan by delivering efficient and effective business services.

We are looking for someone who has proven experience in managing business services in the public or private sector, shares our commitment to our school values of respect, kindness, growth, creativity, and community, and demonstrates strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills. You'll enjoy working collaboratively to create a supportive and thriving school environment.

You must hold a qualification at SCQF level 8/9 i.e. SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship, Technical Apprenticeship in business administration, management, personnel, finance, law or other relevant subject or have a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience as detailed in the experience section of the person specification.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
