JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide effective support services to the firm. Duties will include:
Drafting contracts of employment, staff handbooks, policies, and procedures.
Assisting with settlement agreements and redundancy documentation.
Preparing bundles and witness statements for Employment Tribunal hearings.
Helping solicitors advise employers and employees on workplace disputes (unfair dismissal, discrimination, grievances, disciplinaries).
Carrying out legal research on employment law updates, case law, and legislation changes.
Managing client files from opening to closure.
Liaising with clients, witnesses, and barristers.
Handling correspondence with ACAS and tribunals.
Ability to liaise with clients and other stakeholders as required by the team.
A good knowledge of Employment Law.
Ability to draft correspondence and manage own caseload unsupervised.
Good proofreading skills.
Commercial, practical and financial awareness.
Confidently manage accounts and money laundering responsibilities associated with client files.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Previous Paralegal experience – good employment experience with exposure to both claimant and respondent employment work.
Professional Legal Qualification (Law Degree/Paralegal/CILEX) – desirable but not essential.
Intermediate to advanced IT and online systems ability (Microsoft Office, legal industry specific document management systems, online portals etc.)
Able to work collaboratively and fit into a friendly but busy team.
Excellent organisational ability with a friendly but professional attitude.
Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and marketing skills with the ability to develop contacts for the team and firm
