ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Delivering personalised teaching and learning to students with SEND
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Term Time Only
SALARY: £14.18 per hour

Who We Are

United Response is a registered charity, founded in 1973. Our mission is to ensure that individuals with learning disabilities, mental, or physical support needs have the opportunity to live life to the fullest. We support around 2000 people across more than 300 locations in England and Wales, with over 3,600 staff members.

ROC College, a part of United Response, is a specialist college providing person-centred, community-based teaching and learning within Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset. We work with young people aged 16–25 with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a qualified, enthusiastic Learning Tutor with experience supporting individuals with SEND. You’ll be skilled at planning and delivering engaging lessons that support independence, wellbeing, and personal development.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • GCSEs (A–C in English and Maths) or equivalent

  • AET (Level 3) teaching/tutoring certification

  • Experience creating and delivering bespoke learning plans

  • Strong communication skills and effective behaviour management techniques

  • Flexibility to adapt sessions to students’ diverse needs

Desirable experience includes:

  • Safeguarding and working with challenging behaviours

  • Knowledge of relevant SEND legislation

  • Experience embedding Maths and English into learning sessions

What to Expect

As part of the ROC College team, you will:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group sessions with tailored curriculums

  • Support students to develop life skills such as finance, health, and independent living

  • Collaborate with Learning Mentors, Curriculum Managers, and external professionals

  • Implement engaging learning activities across classroom and community settings

  • Monitor progress, manage behaviour plans, and promote independence and confidence
