Summary
Hyett Education are recruiting a Computing/STEM After School Club and School Holiday Club Manager to organise and lead a range of after school and holiday clubs in the Midlands. Following previous success and popularity, Hyett Education wants to relaunch ‘Tech Tigers’ - an after school and holiday club - to children in the Midlands.
Current Roles by Location: Wolverhampton/South Staffordshire/Shropshire
We are currently seeking a Computing/STEM After-School Club and School Holiday Club Manager and/or Instructors for the West Midlands (predominantly in Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire and Shropshire).
Job Title: Tech Tigers Manager / Tech Tigers After-School & Holiday Club Instructors
We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who are passionate about working to provide stimulating STEM educational experiences for children aged 5-14 years old beyond the school day.
The successful candidate/s will be trained to lead all aspects of the booking process, liaise/communicate with the host schools and parents, devise open-ended learning challenges utilising a wide range of Computing/STEM resources and deliver highly engaging sessions for children, both after school and during the school holidays. New Tech Tigers instructors will undergo various training courses linked to providing extra-curricular services in schools, such as Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Training and Food Hygiene Training.
Staff will need their own car or van - all fuel and travel expenses will be covered by Hyett Education. We may provide a company vehicle in certain circumstances. Our main office is in WV10 and the candidate will be expected to visit the main office for team training at least once per term.
During after school club sessions, Tech Tigers Instructors/Manager will be expected to deliver the sessions by themselves, however, during school holiday clubs, there will be additional staff to support.
Who is our ideal candidate?
The ideal candidate will be responsible and reliable, punctual, presentable, and personable. They will be able to build positive relationships with children, parents, school staff and Hyett Education/Tech Tigers colleagues. They will be able to offer exemplary customer service, and have the drive to constantly reflect upon and improve the service they are delivering. Leading candidates must be able to work well with children.
Subject knowledge in Science, Computing, Engineering and Mathematics is desired but not essential. Knowledge/experience of using administrative software and systems is not essential. We will put in place a training programme for any candidates that need support, with both areas, in relation to the after school clubs and school holiday clubs that they will be running.
Our current team consists of former teachers, teaching assistants and stage performers. We welcome new skills and talents.
Hours & Pay
Term Time Hours
During term time, the Tech Tigers Instructor/Manager’s typical day would be 4 hours, mostly between the times of 1.30pm - 5.30pm (depending on club hours, location and school finish times). This would include time for administrative tasks (communicating with host schools/parents, invoicing, sorting bookings etc.), collecting/preparing resources for the club, travelling to the host school and delivering the after school club. The aim would be to deliver after school clubs in 5 different schools each week (a different school for each day of the week) for either a half term or full term. Additional hours may be available.
The Tech Tigers Instructor/Manager will be required to deliver in schools 12 out of 13 weeks per term.
School Holiday Hours
During school holidays, on days when the school holiday clubs run, the Tech Tigers Manager’s typical day would be 8.00am - 6.00pm. This would include greeting and registering children, setting up learning challenges, supporting students’ learning, managing support staff, communicating with parents and overseeing the break-times and lunch-times. Pay is based on experience, training, qualifications and level of responsibility undertaken.
Essential requirements:
Must be legally able to work in the UK. Visas will not be sponsored as part of this role.
Must have good spoken and written English for clear communication with children and parents.
A clear Enhanced DBS. Applicants without a clear Enhanced DBS when checked will be rejected.
A valid UK driving license with access to your own vehicle, capable of carrying tech equipment to and from clubs. A company car may be provided in certain circumstances.
Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Experience working with children.
We expect all serious candidates to have researched the company to ensure they are a suitable fit for the work we do in schools.
