Barnsley Hospice is a local charity providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to hundreds of people and their families each year. We are proud to have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who make an incredible difference to the lives of those we care for.

We are looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. This is a key role in ensuring our volunteers feel valued, supported, and equipped to give their best, whether they are helping on our inpatient unit, in our retail shops and warehouse, supporting our gardens, or assisting with fundraising and events.

About the Role

As Volunteer Coordinator, you will:

Lead on the recruitment, induction, and ongoing support of volunteers across all areas of the Hospice.

Develop engaging training and induction programmes to ensure volunteers are confident in their roles.

Support departmental leads with rota management, day-to-day volunteer operations, and recognition of volunteer achievements.

Create and promote new volunteering opportunities to meet the needs of the Hospice.

Build strong relationships with external organisations and act as an ambassador for volunteering within the community.

Champion the volunteer experience by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Highly organised with excellent people skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Experienced in working with volunteers or coordinating teams.

Confident in building relationships and handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.

Passionate about the role volunteers play in delivering outstanding care and community support.

Why Join Us?

At Barnsley Hospice, volunteers are at the heart of what we do. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape our volunteering programme and ensure that every volunteer feels recognised, supported, and part of our Hospice family.

We are committed to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all that we do and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQIA+ candidates, and candidates with disabilities, as we are committed to increasing the representation of these groups at Barnsley Hospice.
