Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Food Technology to join a dynamic school in Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to share your passion for food, nutrition, and design, inspiring students to develop practical skills and a love for cooking.

In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to prepare and create food with creativity and precision. Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across KS3-KS4 (and KS5 if required)


Teach practical skills in food preparation, hygiene, and nutrition


Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback and guidance


Maintain high expectations for behaviour, safety, and achievement


Contribute to the development of curriculum plans and resources within the department


Promote creativity, problem-solving, and resilience through food-based projects


Support extracurricular activities such as cookery clubs or competitions


Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and support student success


Qualifications and Experience

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Food Technology, Design Technology, or related subject


Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level


Strong subject knowledge, including nutrition, health and safety, and food preparation techniques


Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills


Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities


Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people


A creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning
