Operating across Suffolk, our team of over 40 skilled tradespeople, supported by a bespoke joinery workshop, delivers both large-scale and small-works projects.

Our Small Works Team specialises in flexible, responsive delivery of projects ranging from approximately £10k to £250k, including extensions, refurbishments, fixtures, and structural alterations. We are seeking a Small Works Manager to lead the department, driving growth, efficiency, and quality across all projects.

The Role
As Small Works Manager, you will take full responsibility for running the Small Works Department. This is a leadership position with accountability for:
• Managing the complete construction process on small works projects up to £250,000.
• Overseeing a mix of planned, reactive, and small projects, sometimes with tight deadlines.
• Attending and coordinating multiple sites to ensure smooth delivery.
• Taking initial client contact through to estimating, procurement, invoicing, and on-site supervision of employed trades and subcontractors.
• Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
• Delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
• Developing and maintaining a client base with potential for repeat business.
• Managing and allocating company resources effectively—labour, materials, budgets.
• Leading and motivating the team to deliver excellence across all projects.

What We Seek
• Proven experience in managing small-scale construction projects (preferably up to £250k).
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to take ownership of a department.
• Experience delivering both planned and reactive projects, working well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
• Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of IT proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Strong commercial awareness with a track record of cost control and resource management.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to attend multiple sites.
• Ideally, prior experience leading or growing a small works division within a contractor environment.
