Job description Job title: Academic Tutor College: Health, Wellbeing & Life Sciences Grade: 6 Reports to: Associate Head Direct reports: None Role Profile: Code Role purpose To be responsible for the teaching delivery of specifically identified subjects and topics relating to a defined area of work and associated assessment and administration. To contribute positively to the student experience. Generic Responsibilities Academic Tutor - Grade 6 Teaching and Learning Deliver high quality and challenging learning experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledge required by employers. Teach specifically identified subjects and topics related to a defined area of work. Provide effective and efficient teaching to approved courses through lecture, seminar or tutorial modes of delivery. Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students by marking coursework, assignments and examinations. Contribute to the development of resource material. Ensure that appropriate learning materials are available in advance of delivery. Maintain subject expertise. Student Support Develop a sense of purpose and harmonious working within assigned student groups. Provide appropriate academic, technical and pastoral care by supporting the work of individual students and referring them where appropriate, to relevant support staff. Act, when required, as Tutor to a group of students, providing effective academic, technical and pastoral care. Teamwork and Communication Work within a team to promote the development of curriculum practices of benefit to students and the University. Participate in appropriate quality assurance procedures of the College. Make a positive contribution to the overall development of the Institute/School and College Ensure the implementation of all University Policies including those relevant to teaching, Health and Safety and Quality Assurance. Demonstrate a commitment to Equal Opportunities. Undertake appropriate general academic duties. Attend College meetings as required. Undertake and attend appropriate developmental activity such as appraisals and training as required.
