You are your role
As a Senior Digital Portfolio Manager you'll be responsible for shaping, guiding, and overseeing the delivery of digital initiatives in DWP, as we transform the way we work, and how customers interact with our services.
You'll need deep knowledge of organisational strategy, business planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
By integrating insights across delivery, finance, architecture, and service, you'll enable informed decision-making and ensure better outcomes. We need you to maintain momentum across complex programmes and ensuring governance and assurance are embedded throughout.
You'll develop roadmaps and high-value initiatives, guiding teams through planning and assurance while maintaining oversight of performance. You will drive better services, reduce risk and enable DWP to achieve our goals with confidence - aligned, well-governed, and effectively prioritised.

A recognised Portfolio or Programme Management qualification such as:
- Management of Portfolios (Practitioner)
- P3O® qualification
- Management of Successful Programmes (MSP)
- Project Management Institute (PMI)
And:
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience within large-scale digital portfolios in a complex organisation, setting portfolio standards and providing independent portfolio assurance to senior leaders.
- Experience of working with organisational objectives and ambitions to shape and influence Digital strategic planning and priorities.
- Experience contributing to improvements in portfolio processes, such as how work is prioritised, tracked, or reported. You take ownership of critical improvement activities, embedding consistent practices and ensuring compliance with portfolio standards across teams.
- Proven ability to anticipate and identify delivery risks or early warning signs, to take decisive action to resolve issues and maintain momentum to protect outcomes across complex delivery landscape.
- Strong analytical skills, experience of using a range of data analysis tools, techniques and providing independent interpretation of portfolio data.
- Experience of visualising the story of the data and communicate recommendations to a range of senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in building successful relationships across organisational boundaries with diverse senior stakeholders using strong leadership and communication skills to build, manage and influence key strategic relationships.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of £57,946. Civil Service Jobs displays the current band minimum of £55,557, which will increase to £57,946 as of September, 1st.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £16,094.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
