About us
Warrington Borough Council is embarking on a critical period of transformation and improvement.
Following a Best Value Inspection, the Council has been directed to deliver an Improvement and Recovery Plan, supported by government-appointed Ministerial Envoys.
The roleAs Executive Director Finance and Section 151 Officer, you will have an opportunity to shape the future of our financial delivery.
Critically, you will ensure that we have robust financial, risk management, and audit arrangements in place while also ensuring value for money in every pound we spend.
You will also provide outstanding leadership and direction to the services you are responsible for, driving transformation and ensuring excellent joint working with Members and other stakeholders.
What’s needed?You will have a demonstrable track record as a Section 151 Officer, and/or working at a senior financial leadership level, specifically in the leadership and management of professional finance, audit and risk functions in a public sector context.
You will have substantial experience of leading financial planning, budget preparation and control in a (financially) large and complex organisation, and be skilled in financial risk assessment, management and resolution.
Ultimately, your financial leadership will play an essential role in ensuring the council operates on a sound financial footing into the future.
