Summary

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

Home Office Digital, Data and Technology designs, builds and develops services for the rest of the department and for government. Every year our systems support up to 3 million visa applications, checks on 100 million border crossings, up to 8 million passport applications and deliver 140 million police checks on people, vehicles and property.

As a Senior Quality Standards and Assurance (QSA) and Risk assurer, you will be responsible for supporting the build, implementation and ongoing delivery of a consistent “3 lines of defence” assurance model and risk framework across Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession.

This means providing independent and constructive risk and assurance support across the broad and varied scope of functions. QSA is an emerging capability within Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession with a mission to improve quality and reduce risk for our users by focussing effort on the right standards, with controls, measures, and effective assurance practices.

Your goal is to build a best-in-class risk and assurance approach and you will be playing a vital role in ultimately supporting the successful delivery of critical Home Office services to the public.

Key Responsibilities

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting independent risk and assurance review activities across Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession, including helping to manage and mitigate risks faced by DDaT.
  • Leading internal review assurance activities to demonstrate alignment to the HO risk framework.
  • Engaging with subject matter experts to form effective internal risk and assurance teams.
  • Reporting and tracking risks and integrating with 2nd line assurance activities.
  • Identifying and addressing root causes to problems early when it’s easier and more cost-effective to correct.
  • Contributing to a culture of quality management around ‘what’ is built and ‘how’ things are built and maintained, involving all members of Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession.
  • Monitoring dashboards, data, and process outcomes and analysing data for triggered interventions and risk to determine the level of assurance and mitigation required.
  • Creating intelligent risk and assurance reports for senior management and stakeholders to aid risk management and data-led decision making.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.
