Summary

Are you a creative communicator who thrives on turning complex ideas into compelling stories? Do you want to help shape how data transforms lives across the UK?

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced communications professional to join DWP Digital’s award-winning Digital Engagement team.

We’re a supportive, talented, and hard-working team who use insight to communicate to more than 4500 colleagues through various channels in an innovative and effective way.

As a Digital Communication and Engagement Manager for Data & Analytics (D&A), you’ll lead the creation and delivery of key internal campaigns that bring our data strategy to life. You’ll help colleagues understand how data is unlocking new possibilities across DWP and other government departments, improving services, strengthening data security and enhancing outcomes for citizens.

Why join us?

  • Be part of a team that’s driving real change through data.
  • Work in a dynamic environment where creativity and collaboration are valued.
  • Help make data more accessible, usable and governed whilst supporting better decision-making across government.

As a Senior Digital Engagement Manager, you co-create the data communication/engagement strategy in collaboration with senior colleagues, through audience insight, your channel expertise and your creative communications skills.

In this role you will:

  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues across and beyond Digital to develop and deliver engaging and innovative campaigns and strategies. Use your communications expertise to reach and engage internal audiences across a range of digital channels.
  • Work effectively with team members to deliver internal communications campaigns in the most effective way, ensuring that the correct message is being promoted and assessing the effectiveness of that message over time.
  • Deliver strategic communications to support business goals. This often involves understanding complex issues and working with directors and senior stakeholders to identify the best targeted approach based on insight and desired outcomes.
  • Help represent the voice of the data audience within Digital/DWP, providing credible communications advice and expert delivery as a trusted senior communications lead.
  • Operate at all levels of DWP, across Government and with external stakeholders, and provide effective professional leadership within your team and across the data community.
  • Developing and delivering communication strategies and campaign plans on complex issues to tight deadlines.
  • Lead strategic understanding and segmentation of audiences to target relevant communication effectively, selecting the most appropriate channel mix and ensuring content is topical and timely.
  • Apply strong campaign management principles and quality-control across work, using the Government Communications Service OASIS model to ensure that communications are creative, insight-driven and carefully evaluated.
  • Provide expert support, advice and constructive challenge to senior leaders to ensure they are effective in communicating clear, confident and consistent messaging across the organisation.
  • Take responsibility for team delivery, including planning, prioritisation, project management and reporting. Lead and co-ordinate all activity in internal communication plans, including deploying resources and managing risks.
  • Take responsibility for measuring the effectiveness of internal communications, acting on colleague feedback to ensure communications are timely, relevant and meets the needs of the organisation and internal audiences, identifying challenges and barriers and suggesting actions for improvement.
  • Utilise data, insight and feedback to make recommendations, understand the wider context for internal communication, identify challenges and barriers and suggest actions for improvement.
  • Align internal engagement activity with DWP Digital’s employee experience, using the 4 engagement enablers of strategic narrative, integrity, employee voice and engaging line managers.
