We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone who is seeking to embark on a Research Scientist Role. Working for our client who are based in Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire and close to Royston in their outstanding facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving company and is a full-time permanent position.

The role
The main purpose of this role centres on the development of world class Gas Sensors and instrumentation. It is suitable for someone with a relevant qualification or experience in a STEM discipline who demonstrates a keen interest in science and technology. This is a hands-on, practical role based at the company’s impressive technology centre.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Hands-on work in a laboratory environment involving gases, chemicals and test equipment
• Running research experiments and characterising the performance of sensors and instruments
• Undertaking batch tests over extended periods to assess lifetime
• Performing manual measurements, use of dataloggers
• Data analysis
• Writing experimental methods, scientific and test reports
• Working collaboratively with senior members of the team

The Person
For this important role we are seeking someone with the following skills and attributes

• Degree or HND level qualification in a relevant STEM subject or equivalent training/ experience
• Awareness or experience of laboratory Health and Safety and Risk Assessments
• Experience of Practical Laboratory work
• Proficient in use of relevant software e.g Word, Excel (Minitab, JMP)
• A basic understanding of electronics such as use of Arduino controllers and Python would be an advantage
• Demonstrate attention to detail and a data rational approach
• Produce accurate records and reports in a timely manner
• Capable of working well within a team
• A driving licence and car is essential to get to Fowlmere as there is not reliable public transport.

Details
This role is offered on a Full-time, permanent basis. The salary offered is depending on experience and offers benefits.
