Role Summary
The Theatre Technician Apprentice is responsible to the Technical Manager, assisting with technical support on all The Rep productions, visiting productions and events. The Rep has three separate technical departments, Lighting, Stage and Sound/Video. The technical departments are run by the Technical Manager. Each department has a Head of Department and a Deputy. This role works with all these departments.
Responsibilities
The technical duties of this post include working on aspects of technical theatre. It includes working on the full variety of performing arts at The Rep including musicals, drama, opera and dance. It also involves supporting on events and conferences. It will occasionally involve working at other venues. The role involves evening and weekend working.
Terms and Conditions
Period of Work: This is a fixed term 18-month apprentice contract, subject to successful completion of a probationary period of 3 months.
Pay:£18,200 per annum (i.e. £10 per hour based on a 35-hour week). This meets the National Minimum Wage for apprentices in the UK, and will increase to National Living Wage after 12 months in post if you are over 21 years old.
Hours: 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
Holidays: 25 days per year plus bank holidays. The holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August each year.
Location of Work: Your main place of work will be The Rep in Birmingham, but you may be required to work permanently or temporarily at other locations locally. You may be asked to work temporarily in other locations in the UK.
