If so, we have a great opportunity for a Digital and ICT Services Librarian to join our team.

This is a 12 months fixed-term opportunity or secondment opportunity for internal staff.

About the team…

This is an exciting time to join the Bracknell Forest Library Service as we look to develop our libraries into hubs for our communities.

You will join a team focused on delivering our core offers and a wide-ranging events programme, whilst looking for opportunities to expand and improve our services, in particular the digital and ICT support we provide to our customers.

Your ‘home’ library will be Bracknell Library, but you will work across all libraries in our borough. You must be able to work flexibly and travel between branches. Your normal working week will be 37 hours. On occasions you may be required to support Saturday workshops or events for which you will be remunerated.

As a rough guide, the hours of work will be approximately as follows:

Week 1:
Monday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Tuesday 9:00am to 7:00pm
Wednesday non-working day
Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm

Weeks 2 and 3:
Monday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Tuesday 9:00am to 7:00pm
Wednesday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Key responsibilities…

Keeping up to date with digital and ICT developments to ensure the Library Service leverages all suitable opportunities to improve services.
Supporting customers in the use of ICT / digital resources, assisting with queries and providing user training sessions.
Marketing and promotion of the Library Service to increase visits, which includes growing our social media presence and outreach activities within the local community, whilst proactively seeking to develop new partnerships.
Seeking alternative sources of funding e.g. from the Arts Council and preparing applications for funding.
Providing a high-quality service to the public via all service points within Bracknell Forest Borough Council, which will include staffing the Reference Desk at Bracknell Library and answering information enquiries in person, by telephone and digitally.
