Summary
We have a new opportunity for an enthusiastic person- with a special interest in hands, to join our team. This is an exciting new post working across elective and trauma outpatient hands and will cover complex hand, wrist, peripheral nerve and upper limb injuries and conditions. Previous experience of managing upper quadrant problems is essential.
You will be part of a wider team working in busy trauma and elective clinics and be responsible for your own outpatient caseload comprising of surgically and non-surgically managed acute injuries and chronic conditions. You will work closely alongside members of the MDT including specialist Consultant hand, plastic and peripheral nerve surgeons and specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists in a busy in a Major Trauma Centre.
You will be working as part of the Fracture Clinic team, with friendly, dynamic and supportive therapists.
There is also a requirement to work weekends, maximum of 1 day in 4 weekends, on either a trauma orthopaedic or elective orthopaedic roster. This will be decided based on the successful candidate's experience.

The Physiotherapy service is part of the Therapies, Outpatients and Phlebotomy Directorate, which is one of the Directorates that together make up the Specialised Clinical Services Care Group at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, and have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
Within this role, you will be responsible for:
• Assessment, early treatment and triage of patients in a busy clinic environment
• Liaison and case discussion with Consultant colleagues and wider members of the MDT
• Managing an outpatient caseload
• Service development projects
• Supervision and training of junior staff and students
• Overseeing the organisation of a busy clinics, deputising for senior staff as required
• Liaison with colleagues in primary care and other secondary care hospitals
• Work flexibly, including late clinic cover and inpatient weekend working as required

JOB SUMMARY

To develop knowledge and skills in the management of patients within elective or trauma hands at NUH
To take additional responsibilities for specific projects and the supervision of Band 5 staff, Physiotherapy Assistants and Students where required.
