We are seeking to appoint a Part-time Fitness Assistant who will be responsible for delivering the day-to-day operations of THEGYM fitness facility within Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre. You will be required to undertake a range of duties within the THEGYM fitness facility, which will include client consultations, aspiration mapping, fitness assessments and the instruction of small group classes. You will also be required to ensure that the facility is maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness & repair. The Fitness Assistant will be responsible for the overseeing & general safety & behaviour of the public to prevent injury, misuse & damage to the facility.

This post will be on a Permanent basis.

Possession of a recognised Gym Instructors Qualification is essential as is the ability to work well with the public. A Health & Fitness related qualification would be an advantage.

The post holder will be required to work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends & public holidays. The shift pattern is on a 3-week rotation which averages out at 18.33 hours per week.

PVG membership scheme will apply.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
