If so, come and join EDF as a PSA Engineer!The OpportunityAs a Probabilistic Safety Analysis Engineer, you’ll assess the safety of nuclear power plants under construction, modelling hazards such as fire, flood, seismic events, reactor core damage, and environmental consequences. You’ll evaluate potential risks to the safe operation of the plant and ensure a robust safety case is in place. Because success is personal.What you’ll be doingYou’ll develop Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) models for the UK EPR reactor fleet; maintain oversight of PSA work completed by our Responsible Designer in France to ensure it meets UK operational and regulatory standards; use PSA techniques and plant information to provide Risk Informed Design insights that enhance design, construction, commissioning, and operational safety.You’ll contribute specialist expertise to site-specific safety cases, managing, reviewing, and accepting work from specialist contractors while acting as the Intelligent Customer for the HPC and SZC Licensees. You’ll also build and maintain a strong, trusted relationship with our safety regulator.You’ll develop our PSA models and methodologies into a fully operational, living PSA, ensuring it continues to evolve and support safe, compliant operations across the fleet.Who you areYou’ll have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to delivering practical safety solutions. You’ll bring a solid academic background in science, engineering, or another numerate discipline, alongside proven technical writing ability and experience working with complex systems and models. Knowledge of Probabilistic Safety Analysis tools and techniques, and familiarity with complex industrial plant design, will be key to your success.You’ll have the capability to analyse and interpret technical data, identify potential safety risks, and contribute to the development of robust nuclear safety cases. Your expertise will extend to applying PSA modelling to real-world scenarios, working with diverse stakeholders, and delivering insights that improve design, construction, and operational safety.We’re looking for someone with experience in safety case development within the nuclear sector, comfortable working in a regulated environment, and able to build strong, trusted relationships with both internal teams and safety regulators.If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
