Summary

As an Assistant Manager within our new home and furniture store, you will play a vital role in our retail operations. This is an exciting and dynamic environment where each day brings new challenges and teamwork is essential. We are in search of a skilled and adaptable Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager. We want someone who is innovative, diligent, and passionate in delivering an exceptional customer experience, effectively lead a team in the absence of the SM, whilst truly embodying the values of Age UK Milton Keynes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Be prepared to manage all areas of the furniture store, including the till area, Burners Lane shop, donation centre, and warehouse.
• Maintain high visual merchandising standards, ensuring that the store’s cleanliness and organization consistently meet expectations by utilising available tools and following visual merchandising guidelines.
• General housekeeping duties, cleaning tasks, and furniture reorganisation may be necessary.
• You should be comfortable with technology and proficient in using a till, PC, smartphone, and email without difficulty.

Person Specification

• 2 years’ experience within retail or service, ideally in furniture or home goods environment .
• Ability to motivate and lead a team.
• Able to coach and train team members to help maximise sales and efficiency.
• Strong commitment to Age UK Milton Keynes mission and values.
• Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships with a diverse team.
• Resilience and an energetic approach to work, our Home & Furniture store does get busy, and the role can be physically & mentally demanding particularly when dealing with large numbers of customers, donations, and deliveries.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills to address issues and enhance operational efficiency.
• You’ll be comfortable with tech, able to use a Till, PC, Smartphone and e-mail with ease.
• Results oriented and proud to contribute and support the team in achieving store targets and objectives
• Flexibility to work weekends and in line with store opening hours and operating needs.
• Professional, but also authentic and passionate about what you do!
• Please note, this role can be physically demanding and will involve lifting large pieces of furniture.
