You'll work a rotating shift pattern to cover our 24/7 service. This will be a mixture of early and late day shifts with one night week in every four.

Main duties of the job

All our services are staffed by full multi-disciplinary teams including nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists, and supported by a variety of other professional colleagues.

As a Healthcare Assistant you’ll contribute and participate in the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of care and treatment for people within a healthcare or community setting. You’ll play a vital role in improving patients’ wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

Personal Care: Assisting patients with daily activities like washing, dressing, and eating.

Patient Monitoring: Keeping an eye on patient conditions to ensure their comfort and safety.

Ward Environment: Helping to maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment on the ward.

Communication: Interacting with patients and their families to provide reassurance and support.

Phoenix Ward is an Adult Male Acute Ward with 18 beds, operational 24 hours, based at Littlemore Mental Health Centre for male adults of working age.

Our Recruitment Day on Tuesday 23 September at Unipart House in Oxford is designed to give you a real feel for life at Oxford Health. You'll have an extended period to meet our teams, learn about our services, and show us what you can do.

Person specification Knowledge Essential criteria
  • A good command of the English Language
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
Experience Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or community setting
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Previous experience of working within a Healthcare Assistant role
Skills Essential criteria
  • Confident and able to work alone with patients with distant supervision
  • Able to work flexibly to the needs of the service
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic about delivering the highest quality care
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and support all colleagues and healthcare professional
Desirable criteria
  • Full UK driving Licence
