Salary: £25,905 - £26,111 (pro-rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Castleview is looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals to work collaboratively as a members of the school team assisting in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of all pupils across the school ensuring those with additional support needs can effectively access their learning in an inclusive, safe and nurturing setting with every opportunity to reach their full potential.
This post involves supporting pupils across all stages who have complex needs for the main part of the working day. There will also be opportunities to support across the Primary School. To provide support and assistance in the day-to-day operations of the school as directed by the Head Teacher or nominated staff. The position may also involve occasional support in our Nursery to cover training or absence.
Castleview is situated in an area of positive action and all our staff must be confident in managing challenging behaviours and learning issues. The school team is dedicated to increasing the life chances of our school family and as a result the expectations are high for all team members, including confidence in supporting Outdoor Learning experiences as we see this as a key strategy to support inclusion, to raise attainment for all and to improve the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

Example: A PSA on Grade 3 with less than 5 years' service working 27.5 hours per week for 39 weeks, would be paid:
At lowest scale point: £25,905 x 45.6/52.18 weeks x 27.5/36 hours = £17,293 per year (£1,441 per month before tax/NI)
At highest scale point: £26,111 x 45.6/52.18 weeks x 27.5/36 hours = £17,431 per year (£1,453 per month before tax/NI)
PSAs do not work during the 12 weeks of school holidays, however total salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments, over the year.
There are also opportunities to work in a holiday hub provision during the school holidays for successful candidates looking to work during the school holidays.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
