Job Purpose

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Carer to provide dedicated support to an elderly woman living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). This is a progressive neurological condition that affects mobility, speech, vision, and swallowing and therefore requires to be fed via a PEG. The lady who lives with her husband is housebound, and her day is divided between a rise-recliner in the living room and an adapted bed in the bedroom.

A team of carers are in place to provide personal hygiene and transferring the rooms and the ideal candidate will have experience in complex care and a genuine passion for improving quality of life.

The lady receiving care is of South Indian heritage, and Telugu-speaking carers are highly desirable to support her cultural comfort and communication needs. This is a deeply personal and meaningful role and the candidate will be helping the lady to maintain dignity, comfort, and emotional wellbeing. The successful candidate will work alongside other carers and family members in a collaborative and respectful environment. Please note that the postholder will be treated as part of the family and you will be working (and living) with a professional family that includes doctors.

One week training will be provided for PEG and medications administrations. Course fees will be paid by the employer.

Main duties:

To support with:
