The Rheumatology Department at The Royal Wolverhampton Trust is now the largest Rheumatology Service in the West Midlands providing a wide range services in Wolverhampton and Cannock.
The service supports two-day units, one on the Wolverhampton site and the other on the Cannock site. The units have 19 infusion chairs in total, and 2 chairs used to support research and development within the unit. We treat all types of Rheumatology conditions with infusion therapy and support other specialties too.
The department has close links with a dedicated Rheumatology R&D team. In addition, the service also provides a musculoskeletal ultrasound service on the Cannock Chase Hospital site.
To provide high quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group. Cannulation of patients and the safe administration of intravenous infusions and other specialist rheumatology medication.
To deliver compassionate person-centered care, and treat patients, service users, their families and their carers with consideration, dignity and the respect you would want for yourself or your family.
To provide relevant forms of care with minimal supervision and participate in the supervision and teaching and assessment of unregistered or junior staff and students.
To play an active part in the continuing development of the department and contribute to the maintenance of an environment conducive to the delivery of high standards of patient care, by promoting good communication, education , counselling as well as promoting relationships between staff, patients, relatives and visitors.
