A nursery nurse provides high-quality care, education, and a nurturing environment for young children (typically under age five) to support their development. Key responsibilities include ensuring children's safety, planning and supervising age-appropriate learning activities and play, assisting with daily routines like feeding and hygiene, maintaining a clean and stimulating environment, keeping developmental records, and communicating effectively with parents and carers.
Core Responsibilities
Child Safety and Welfare:
Ensure a safe, secure, and caring environment, maintain hygiene standards, and follow all safeguarding procedures.
Child Development and Learning:
Plan, provide, and oversee stimulating and age-appropriate educational activities, play opportunities, and routines.
Support cognitive, social, and emotional development through play, crafts, reading, and outdoor activities.
Daily Care:
Assist with mealtimes, snacks, drinks, feeding, and changing nappies or toilet training.
Record Keeping:
Maintain developmental records and observations of children, and complete accident and incident logs.
Environment Management:
Prepare and maintain clean, safe, and stimulating playrooms, equipment, and outdoor areas.
Communication:
Establish strong relationships with parents and carers, providing them with information about their child's progress, and working with colleagues from other agencies when necessary.
