Summary
Clinical Support Work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, following local practice guidelines and protocols. Lead clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients across a broad range of acute and chronic conditions. Support GPs and other healthcare professionals in delivering comprehensive patient care, including preventative health and health promotion. Attend mandatory training and professional development sessions to maintain and enhance clinical skills. Deliver nursing care independently or in partnership with GPs and nurses, adhering to agreed protocols and professional standards. Clinical Tasks Perform advanced clinical assessments and physical examinations. Conduct diagnostic tests, including ordering, interpreting, and acting on results. Prescribe medications independently within the scope of practice. Manage long-term condition reviews, developing personalised care plans. Record and monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, BMI, and urinalysis. Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment to ensure safe and efficient patient care. Participate in health promotion, patient education, and self-management support. Escalate complex or urgent clinical concerns to senior clinicians promptly. Communication Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues. Adapt communication style to meet the diverse needs and understanding of patients. Provide clear explanations and reassurance, especially when delivering difficult news. Maintain professional and respectful communication within the team and with external partners. Advocate for patients needs and preferences in care planning and decision-making. Quality of Care Practice within your competence and professional scope. Manage clinical workload effectively while maintaining high standards of care. Deliver care in accordance with NICE guidelines, local protocols, and evidence-based practice.
