Summary
This post is integral to the delivery of occupational therapy activity within major trauma/neurosciences/neurorehabilitation.
This post undertakes advances assessment and treatment of patients with a traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injuries across the trust in the acute and rehabilitation environment. The post holder is integral in signposting the correct pathway for these patients and facilitating flow through the hospital.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit to a permanent post as a Band 7 Neuro Trauma Therapy Co-ordinator at St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Tooting.
St. George’s Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre and tertiary centre for neurosurgery and spinal cord injury research. There are well formed pathways with the designated Acute Brain Injury Unit and a developing role in identification of patients for the Rapid Access Acute Rehabilitation ward. It is essential that you have clinical experience, neuro-speciality/ major trauma at Band 6. To include acute neurosciences and rehabilitation. Applicants must also have clinical NHS experience in an inpatient setting. You will be responsible for supervising Band 6 occupational therapist, therapy technicians and students.
This post works within acute neurosciences, as well as outreaching across the Trust, to coordinate the care pathway of all major trauma patients who sustain a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or multiple injuries following a traumatic event. This includes a clinical support and key worker role for patients and their families in the acute setting and facilitating discharge to the appropriate rehabilitation services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the occupational therapy service at St George’s Hospital. This post is part of the Neuro-Trauma service that works across the trust supporting patients with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. They work closely with level 1 services to provided rehabilitation and identification of the most appropriate patient pathway.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a high standard of physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to people with neurological conditions.
