Summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a full-time SEN 1:1 Behavioural Needs Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs School (PRU) in Peckham.

Job Title: SEN 1:1 Behavioural Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Peckham, Southeast London.
Full-Time: 5 days per week
Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Daily Rate: GBP110
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Ongoing
Contract Type: Temporary with the opportunity to go permanent

As an SEN 1:1 Behavioural Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work one-to-one with a Year 7 pupil who presents extremely challenging behaviours. Your primary role will be to support him outside the classroom (within the school), helping him complete classwork while working towards his successful reintegration into the classroom environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Implementing personalised support strategies to encourage engagement and progress.
· Managing behavioural challenges using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
· Assisting with tailored educational plans, adapting learning materials to meet his specific needs.
· Building trust and rapport to create a supportive and structured learning environment.
· Collaborating with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to track progress and adapt strategies as needed.


SCHOOL TYPE: A special educational needs secondary school (PRU) for boys aged 11 to 16. The academy specialises in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs and behavioural challenges.

SEN NEEDS: ASD, ADHD, SEMH.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· At least one years experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs (SEN).
· Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST
Hold the Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
