Team Manager – Adult Services
East Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership is seeking a skilled and motivated Team Manager to co-lead our Adult Social Work Team. This is a key leadership role supporting adults with a wide range of needs, including older adults, individuals with mental health and addiction issues, physical disabilities and autism.
About the Role
As Team Manager, you will provide on-site leadership and professional oversight to a experienced and dedicated staff group. You will play a central role in ensuring high-quality service delivery, supporting staff development and maintaining operational resilience.
You will have a strong working knowledge of Adult Support and Protection (ASP) legislation and processes, as the role involves significant responsibility for managing ASP Case Conferences and Reviews. You will also support Senior Practitioners in managing complex workloads with a focus on risk, capacity and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a multi-disciplinary team, including Senior Practitioners.
- Oversee ASP processes and ensure statutory compliance.
- Contribute to strategic planning, service development and policy implementation.
- Manage complaints, performance, attendance and workforce resilience.
- Oversee social work purchasing and staffing budgets, including authorisation of service requests in line with East Lothian’s eligibility criteria.
About You
You will bring:
- Proven leadership experience in adult social work or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of ASP legislation and statutory responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of HR policies, risk management and capacity issues.
- Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Degree in Social Work (or other recognised Social Work Qualification, i.e. CQSW, Dip SW, CCETSW) or equivalent level of qualification in Occupational Therapy.
Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) OR the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the HCPC or the relevant section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for SSSC registration as soon as possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date.
Evidence of commitment to Continual Professional Development.
Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.
PVG Membership
This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
