Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry in Eating Disorders
Part-Time 7PA's, Fixed Term -12 months

This is a fixed term part-time (7PAs) post, working within the outpatient eating disorder service. The post holder will work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders. The post is also supported by a specialist MDT. The post provides an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and experience in the assessment and management of eating disorders across the full spectrum of diagnoses and severity, and the in delivery of specialist psychological therapies for eating disorders.

The post holder will provide day to day psychiatric and medical assessment and management of adults with eating disorders receiving care in the outpatient service. Leadership of MDT risk assessment and management is central to the role. They will contribute to the weekly outpatient meeting and clinical forum, and the twice weekly assessment meeting. The post holder will contribute to MHA work, including the preparation of reports, with supervision from the Consultant. They will also provide occasional medical cover for other doctors across the service (inpatient, day patient, outpatient), giving experience of the full spectrum of eating disorder presentations, and the broad range of treatment modalities available.



Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service is an all age Eating Disorder Service with a vibrant and skilled multidisciplinary team working across a variety of evidence based treatment pathways targeted to the specific needs of different groups of patients.

1. To provide psychiatric and medical assessments of adults referred to the eating disorder service, including prescribing and monitoring medication and supporting delivery of services according to NICE guidelines policies.

2. Toundertakephysicalexaminationsandorderinvestigationsasrequired.

3. The post-holder will join other members of the team to provide psychiatric input including assessment and treatment of comorbid mental health disorders.

4. To provide medical and psychiatric review of outpatients.

5. TocontributetocollectionofClinicalOutcomedataacrosstheservice.

6. To liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.

7. Consultationtoothermembersofthemultidisciplinaryteam,includingwith respect to the management of risk.

8. ActivelyparticipateinweeklyMDT

9. GoodunderstandingofClinicalGovernancerequirementsandensuringtheservice meets standards.

10. Preparingassessmentreportsand other clinicaldocumentationandcorrespondence as necessary, in accordance with trust policy.

11. Liaisoninputtomedicalwardsasneededandsustaingoodworking relationships and effective MEED pathways with acute hospitals in our catchment area.

12. To provide cross cover with medical colleagues within the whole ED service.
