Are you passionate about the power of digital innovation to transform education? Plumpton College is looking for a forward-thinking Learning Technology Manager to lead the development and implementation of digital learning platforms, a Digital Literacy Framework, and an enhanced Virtual Learning Environment. You will shape and deliver a College-wide Learning Technology Strategy that supports scalable, inclusive and impactful online and blended learning in line with our mission to meet local, regional and national skills needs.
About Us:
Plumpton College is a leading provider of land and environmental education in the UK, situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park. We offer a wide range of vocational and academic courses for students of all ages studying from level 1 to Masters degree and across nineteen subject areas including agriculture, animal management, veterinary sciences, horticulture, equine studies, wine, and environmental studies.
Our approach is underpinned by our core values — Professional, Ambitious, Passionate, Supportive, Progressive, and Enterprising — which guide everything we do, from the classroom to the boardroom. We are proud to foster a culture that expects high standards, encourages innovation, and prioritises the learner experience.
About The Role:
As Learning Technology Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of a College-wide Learning Technology Strategy and Digital Literacy Framework, driving the integration and optimisation of digital platforms across the organisation. You’ll oversee the rollout of a new Virtual Learning Environment, support the design of engaging online and blended programmes with curriculum teams, and lead learner-centred training and onboarding initiatives for staff. With a strong focus on quality and impact, you will monitor system performance, gather stakeholder feedback, and use data to inform improvements. You will also manage external partnerships, evaluate emerging technologies, and work closely with the Head of IT to ensure all systems align with College infrastructure and strategic goals.
About You:
We seek a skilled and adaptable Learning Technology leader who combines technical expertise with educational insight. You will have strong web‑development skills, experience with digital learning platforms and API integrations, and fluency in emerging technologies such as AI and immersive environments. Excellent project management abilities, SQL reporting and database skills, and proficiency in Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop are highly desirable. Experience in the FE/HE sectors—ideally with a teaching qualification—is essential, as is a PGCE or Level 5 teaching qualification. A degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Why Join Us?
At Plumpton College, we live our values—Ambitious, Professional, Enterprising, Passionate, Supportive—in everything we do
We offer a competitive salary alongside a generous benefits package, including up to 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata), and up to 5 efficiency days at Christmas.
Staff are enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme and have access to comprehensive CPD opportunities and in-house teacher training where applicable.
As a Disability Confident Committed employer and a signatory of the Menopause Pledge, we are proud to foster an inclusive and supportive workplace.
New colleagues benefit from a structured induction and a supported six-month probationary period, as well as a strong coaching culture with in-house L5 trained coaches.
Employees also enjoy a range of lifestyle and wellbeing benefits such as eligibility for a TOTUM card and Blue Light Card, free eye tests, free use of our onsite gym, cycle-to-work scheme, discounted Plumpton wine and courses, free onsite parking, and an Employee Assistance Programme.
Our commitment to staff wellbeing and community is further demonstrated through regular networking events, active EDI and Sustainability committees and social events at Christmas
