Summary
We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic, supportive, and friendly team in the Clinical Biochemistry Department at Epsom and St Helier hospitals.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and motivated State Registered Biomedical Scientists to join the well-established team in this busy UKAS Accredited pathology department. Where Biomedical scientists within the department work on the Abbott Alinity Chemistry and Immunoassay analysers. We are currently undergoing an exciting Beckman implementation project and will potentially be introducing Beckman analysers, including the DxI 9000, DxA Track, Automate, and AU5800 systems.
The post is for 37.5 hours per week, primarily based at St Helier Hospital; however rotation across other sites within SWLP may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the 24 hour/seven day service after a period of suitable training.
We are currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Band 6 BMS to join the Clinical Blood Sciences (CBS) team. Working primarily in the Automated Biochemistry Department, the successful candidate may also be required to work across the other specialist sections in biochemistry, following suitable training. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in all stages of the laboratory process, including; sample handling, analysis, and reporting, from assigning unique identifiers and performing routine and specialized biochemical analyses to validating and authorizing laboratory results.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the 24 hour/seven day service after a period of suitable training. You will also engage in professional development activities, such as participating in CPD to maintain HCPC registration, attending training courses, and contributing to the training of other staff and healthcare professionals. The Laboratory operates a 24/7 service (with multidisciplinary out of hours) providing cover to a busy A&E, obstetrics and acute services.
