Summary

Charlotte Straker House is a respected and well-established residential care home in the heart of Corbridge, known for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team and help support our residents in living comfortable, dignified, and fulfilling lives.

As a Care Assistant, you will support the direct care provision of all aspects of residents' assessed needs, including:
• Assisting residents with washing, dressing, and undressing
• Participating in basic nursing care under supervision (e.g. bed bathing, pressure area care, mouth and eye care)
• Supporting residents with toileting needs, including continence promotion
• Changing beds and tidying residents’ rooms as appropriate
• Encouraging and assisting residents with mobility and the use of mobility aids
• Helping to serve meals and drinks, including feeding residents who require assistance
• Ensuring residents receive the correct meal or diet appropriate to their needs
• Assisting with the admission and discharge process, including listing and labelling residents’ property/clothing
• Reporting relevant information to the nurse in charge to ensure care plans are up to date
• Observing and reporting any changes in residents’ physical or psychological condition
• Assisting in taking and recording residents’ weights
• Reporting any accidents or incidents involving residents or staff immediately to the nurse in charge
• Supporting and encouraging social activities and interaction among residents
• Adhering to the Staff Code of Conduct and relevant statutory codes of practice
• Attending all mandatory and additional training as required
• Answering the telephone, taking accurate messages, and notifying the nurse in charge promptly
• Assisting with additional duties as needed during staff absences or shortages
• Administering medication if trained, competent, and required by management




Essential Criteria
• Willingness to train and complete NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care within 2 years
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to attend necessary meetings and training sessions
• Demonstrated loyalty, flexibility, and commitment to the home and its values
• Professional conduct in line with confidentiality requirements and GDPR
• Willingness to undertake any reasonable duties to ensure smooth operation of the home, as directed by nursing staff or management
