Summary
Charlotte Straker House is a respected and well-established residential care home in the heart of Corbridge, known for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team. In this vital role, you will support the smooth running of our kitchen and help provide nutritious, well-prepared meals for our residents.
About the Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll work closely with our Head Cook and wider team to ensure meals are prepared, served, and delivered in a timely, hygienic, and person-centred way. Your work will make a real difference to the daily lives of our residents, many of whom look forward to mealtimes as a highlight of their day.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and drinks
• Supporting the Cook with basic food preparation tasks
• Washing up and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas
• Ensuring food is stored, handled, and served safely in line with food hygiene standards
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and surfaces, following infection prevention and COSHH guidelines
• Assisting with the safe delivery of meals to residents when required

About You
No formal qualifications are required, although experience in a catering or kitchen environment (especially in a care or healthcare setting) is an advantage. We're looking for someone who is:
• Reliable, enthusiastic, and takes pride in their work
• Friendly and approachable, with a respectful and caring attitude
• Able to follow food hygiene and health & safety guidelines
• Organised and efficient, with good attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
