About us

he Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods team is a newly established team to provide administrative support to the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods Board. The Board is responsible for developing a Regeneration Plan, and for delivering the strategic objectives of the programme in partnership with the local authority. The Council is the accountable body responsible for due diligence of the funding, grant payment agreements and financial reporting, as well as facilitating the Board and carrying out the Regeneration Plan. The Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods team sits within the Council’s Place Directorate and there will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in the Creative Communities team, in Economic Development and Project Management Unit, as well as more widely across the Council.

About the role

Pay Details: £41,771 - £42,142
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: up to 37 hours

Temporary Reason: Grant funding

Description: This role is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of residents and business owners in Barry. You will support the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods Board and lead on some of the projects in the Regeneration Plan to improve the health & well-being, educational, economic and social outcomes for communities in Barry. This will involve working closely with the local community, local organisations and third sector organisations, as well as internal departments, to develop and deliver projects. You will manage pilot projects and work with the team to monitor and evaluate, scale up projects and apply for further funding where appropriate. In October 2023 the UK Government announced that Barry was to benefit from up to £2m of investment per year for the next ten years. The funding programme - Plan for Neighbourhoods - aims to tackle deprivation and close the inequality gap through work streams within these three themes: • Thriving Places • Stronger Communities

About you

You will be knowledgeable about community development practices, community led regeneration and co-production.

You will have:

Experience of working as part of a multi-agency approach to deliver regeneration objectives.
Experience of carrying out consultation with communities or businesses and be able to communicate well with a range of stakeholders.
Experience as client officer of developing or managing physical regeneration projects and complex budgets.
Experience of addressing social and economic issues.
