Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Assistant to support the delivery of our work across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire (GMMC).
The Water, Land & Biodiversity (WLB) Asset Management Teams aim to improve management of WLB assets such as river and rain gauging equipment and stations, groundwater boreholes, and fish and eel passes. We do this by implementing an asset management system that provides the framework, systems and processes for a whole lifecycle approach to the management of our assets, ensuring they are safe, effective and resilient and that our future investment requirements are fully understood.
Managing data about our assets is key to our vision of world class asset management. To achieve this, we need accurate and reliable asset data and information. We do this using our asset management database – AIMS:OM (Asset Information Management System, Operations and Maintenance) – which is transforming how assets are currently managed across the business.
This role will include:
- Cleansing and improving of data in the AIMS:OM asset management database by identifying data improvement needs, accurately entering, checking and correcting data, in accordance with the guidance and our national/area data improvement plan both within the area and across other areas.
- Contributing to the cataloguing/T98 of assets by adding information to AIMS: OM
- Setting up of recurring maintenance activities and inspections and work orders
- Recording of defects
- Working across all area teams to ensure potential data conflicts are identified and resolved.
- Supporting ways to improve sustainability and resilience of assets by improving the data
- Potential for frequent site visits whilst working with asset management colleagues or for data verification.
The team
Covering the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire area, you will report to the Water Land Biodiversity Asset Management Team Leader, who will guide your workload alongside the area Asset Management Technical Lead.
Our team manage assets holistically. This includes: asset inspection, public safety, maintenance and repair, the planning and delivery of improvement projects, programme management, and eventual decommissioning of uneconomical assets.
You will be required to work with and support other national and area teams.
Experience/skills required
• Good communication skills
• Able to develop and maintain good relationships
• Ability to collate and interpret different sources of data in an accurate and efficient manner.
• Have an eye for detail, be efficient and able to persevere with tasks.
• Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
• Work under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve outcomes
• Organisational skills and an ability to use systems and applications
At times you will be required to work alone so a good knowledge of health & safety is essential. You should also be happy to work outside, in challenging weather conditions, all year round. Experience in asset management and maintenance/project work is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
You must be able to swim and hold a current UK driving licence
