Summary
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Physiologist to join our Paediatric Respiratory team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a growing service that provides highly specialised diagnostic care to children and young people. The role will involve delivering advanced respiratory and sleep physiology services, managing a team of physiologists, and driving innovation and quality improvement within the service. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high quality and will benefit from excellent professional support and development opportunities.
The post holder will be responsible for leading the paediatric respiratory and sleep physiology service, overseeing the day to day operations and ensuring the delivery of high quality diagnostic care. The role includes performing a wide range of highly specialised diagnostic procedures, such as spirometry, lung volume measurements, capillary blood gas analysis, respiratory challenge tests, and advanced sleep studies, including oximetry and polygraphy. The post holder will be required to interpret complex diagnostic results, provide accurate reports, and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to directly inform patient care and treatment plans.
The successful candidate will also be expected to drive service development, ensuring adherence to national and local policies, including ARTP and BTS standards, while contributing to quality assurance, equipment calibration, and troubleshooting.
In addition to clinical and managerial responsibilities, the post holder will work collaboratively with other professionals across the Trust to provide a seamless service. The role will also involve contributing to research, clinical audit, and quality improvement projects to enhance the service and ensure evidence based practice.
