Pay rate: £13.48 per hour PAYE
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 3 months with possible extension/ permanent job Available, for the right candidate.
Working Arrangement: Anticipated office based as no hybrid working given

Full valid driving license and access to a car

The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Temporary Housing Accommodation Officer to provide a customer focussed service which provides high quality and cost- effective accommodation for Clients that the Council has a duty to provide to discharge the Council’s legal obligations.

You will have at least 2 years’ experience of delivering customer focused quality services on face to face and telephone basis, along with experience of working with vulnerable client groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Notify, all other relevant Council Sections e.g. Housing Benefits and Council Tax Departments of placements into, moves within, and the termination of the temporary accommodation.
Arrange the storage of applicant’s belongings in accordance with the Council’s legal duties in instances of abandonment, incarceration, or confinement for health reasons.
Set up rent accounts, monitor payments and terminate accounts and placements promptly in relation to temporary accommodation in accordance with the council’s procedures and recorded on the relevant IT systems.
Take appropriate action with respect to rent accounts falling into arrears in accordance with current council procedures, liaise with the Housing Benefit department to resolve any issues in relation to claims and agreeing and monitoring agreed repayment arrangements are adhered to.
Identify and recommend former occupancy debts to be written off in accordance with Policy and procedures.
Verify invoices received from temporary accommodation providers to ensure they are accurate and to authorize payments via the finance department and IT system within corporate timescales.
Undertake weekly external inspections of Council owned temporary accommodation including communal areas reporting any issues / repairs as required.



What the client is looking for:

At least 2 years’ experience of delivering customer focused quality services on face to face and telephone basis
Full valid driving license and access to a car
Experience of maintaining electronic based information systems.
Experience of keeping accurate records
Experience of drafting basic written correspondence to customers as well as liaising with them on a face-to-face basis and on the telephone.
Experience of using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Experience of working with vulnerable client groups
Knowledge of housing and homelessness is desirable
Experience of managing a varied case load is desirable
Customer service training is desirable
