Summary

It will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the application, and the interview and assessment process.

As Deputy Director for Public Bodies, Appointments, Honours and Awards (PBAHA) you will:

  • Lead a hard-working team of 33 FTE and be part of the Strategy Senior Leadership Team. Ensure PBAHA is happy, inclusive and collaborative, and that the team works effectively with the department to deliver for Ministers;
  • Lead ALB reform, driving an ambitious policy programme that responds to ministerial priorities, working collaboratively with the department and our Arms Length Bodies.
  • Develop strategy and policy for working with DCMS Public Bodies, working with sponsor teams to build strong relationships, high standards of governance, shared understanding of priorities and adherence to the Cabinet Office Sponsorship Code. This includes maintaining effective risk and assurance management
  • Oversee the DCMS regulated public appointments processes - making c. 100 appointments per annum, ensuring a robust, transparent process and exceptional outreach. Actively work to improve the appointment processes, including taking advantage of new technology.
  • Oversee the significant DCMS role in the Honours System celebrating the individuals within our sectors; including providing support to three independent honours Committees which collectively make up a significant proportion of all nominations, and managing the Kings Award for Voluntary Service - awarding c. 250 voluntary groups annually.
  • Oversee the Public Bodies Review programme, reviewing our highest profile Public Bodies and working with lead reviewers to ensure that Public Bodies are effective, efficient and well-governed, and that our sponsorship of them enables that.
  • Ensure strong relationships with a wide and varied set of stakeholders, including CEOs and Chairs of Public Bodies, the Royal Household, Cabinet Office and No 10.
