Job Title: Support worker/Personal Assistant
Hours per week: An average of 8 hours per week to be worked as follows; Wednesday 6 hours every week, 3 of these hours to be worked in the evening.
Every other Monday, 4 hours in the evening.
Times will be agreed mutually in advance, and can be discussed further at interview.
(Possible further hours may be available to cover other staff leave and sickness).

About me:
We are looking for a support worker for our 26 year old son with down syndrome to enable him to undertake activities that are meaningful to him. He has a great sense of humour and many interests, and we require someone to support and promote more independence and personal choices in a positive and encouraging way.

The kind of person I am looking for is someone who:
Must hold a full Driving License, with Business Insurance Cover, as use of a motability vehicle will be required to carry out some of their structured activities.
Will promote and support confidence and independence.
Has a person-centered approach and a genuine interest in supporting people to achieve their goals.
Can follow instructions and will establish a professional standard of care, to be always maintained.
Will not use their personal mobile phone at work unless in an emergency.
Is trustworthy, kind, punctual and reliable.
Is patient and supportive with good listening skills and an ability to provide non-judgmental emotional support.
Maintains confidentiality and respects the privacy of the family, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
Can work flexibly, adapting to the variable requirements of this role as required.
Task and duties, to include any or all the following:
Attendance at pre-organised structured activities.
Volunteering opportunities and accessing the community using public transport.
Day Trips (Planning and managing money).
Managing challenging behavior.
Assisting with personal care when required.
Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed.
Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed.
The role is dependent upon a DBS and 2 references.
We are not able to offer sponsorship so proof of Right to Work in the UK is essential.
