Our stroke service is the designated 24 hour thrombolysis centre for Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire with 15 hyper- acute beds and 27 acute rehabilitation beds. You will be part of a busy multi-disciplinary team who are dedicated in providing individualised, evidence based stroke care management.

With the support of a stroke practice development sister, stroke specialist nurses and the Trust’s education department, we are able to offer a range of education and development opportunities, including in-house training and external courses. Working across hyper-acute, acute and step down areas, you will have the opportunity to continue to progress your professional development, gain specialist knowledge in the care of acute stroke and skills in caring for rehabilitation patients.
• Communicate with patients and their visitors in order to promote their comfort and well-being
• Communication with other members of the organisation and respond appropriately
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Make unoccupied beds and occupied beds.
• Assist patients out of bed, helping with dressing and undressing as required Wash/bathe patients in bed and in the bathroom.
• Care of hands and feet of patients in bed.
• Observe patients’ skin and report any red marks or blemishes to nursing staff in charge.
• Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients complying with the Trust Moving and Handling policy
• Under direction of trained nurse, assist with the treatment/management of patients with insect infestations.
• Report Accidents/incidents to nurse in charge and complete appropriate Trust forms.
• Chaperone Medical Staff.
