Summary
Assist with all aspects of personal care e.g washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, incontinence management, medication etc. & doing necessary limbs exercises. Able to do regular shifts, punctual & stay the whole hour. Must be trustworthy, reliable & have experience working e.g. in hospital or nursing home is desired but not essential.
Prepare meals & drinks to ensure that I have access to food & drink when on my own. You may need to heat up food, replace in fridge food from the freezer etc. & help me eat. I may sometimes eat pork.
Help maintain my home clean & tidy by doing laundry, cleaning dishes, changing & making my bed & any other domestic duties required e.g washing bathroom weekly, keeping fridge freezer clean etc.
Help support me in my home with activities of daily living e.g. getting in & out of bed, showering or hair washing, daily body washing etc. in a safe & professional manner, working well with a second PA. Must already be trained on using the ceiling hoist.
I need you to be alert, able to immediately raise any concerns about my safety or well-being with my family &/or e.g. Single point Access, GP or pharmacy etc. & take appropriate action in an emergency.
You must always report any concerns about my health & safety e.g. skin bruising, urine bypassing or becoming very smelly or change of colour to District Nurse or GP etc.
Your job is to make me as comfortable & safe in my own home as possible & also do simple things like turning on/ off lights, checking on heating, checking that I wear my falls alarm, locking the door etc.
I am looking for PAs who are able to work well with family & friends so that I can have a stable home-life & able to enjoy a bit of social life outside the home.
As PA you must be able to record events, keep receipts etc. as I will have to trust you with my spending money e.g if out on an activity.
I would like to go on activities like e.g. visiting the park, walking along Oxford Street, going to cafes etc. & will need you to take me on such activities when I decide to do it.
If you cannot work well with the other PA on the same shift, you must inform me or my family members immediately.
I will require you to strictly maintain my privacy & confidentiality at all times i.e no talking about my personal life & whatever happens inside &/or outside my home to anyone unless you have my permission.
This list is only an example of what I may require you to do for me. I may have to change or alter some conditions from time to time to suit my physical, mental or personal needs depending on my medical condition. Notice of any changes will be given as much in advance as possible.
