JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-time Personal Assistant(s)
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a woman in my 30’s living in the Sully area with my family. I have recently moved to the Vale from Cardiff and I am getting used to my new environment. I have a hereditary eye condition called Rod Cone Dystrophy. I have Retinitis Pigmentosa and Mystagum. I have also developed cataracts and I am unable to focus. I am unable to judge where things are, when outdoors I need to use my cane and I need someone present to guide me.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking to employ an additional Personal Assistant to support me within my home and out in the community.
HOURS OF WORK
4 hours per week
RATES OF PAY
£15.00 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
Drive me and my son to school and pick him up afterwards
Guide me and my son to the school gates and back
Support me to take my children out
Support me to complete activities with my children in the house
Support with correspondence throughout the week, e.g. responding to letters, emails, paying bills, school letters etc.
Once per week, support with making bulk meal preparation for the family
Provide guidance when I am using the stove/oven to ensure my safety
Take and provide guidance for me on the weekly shop
Pick up bits throughout the week such as milk etc.
Take me to the leisure centre in Cogan, I tend to go 3 times per week for swimming, to the gym and exercise class
You will need to get into the swimming pool to guide me
Domestic tasks around the home
Take me shopping for clothes; children birthday presents etc. appointments, parents evening, monthly meetings, to meet my parents
Any other responsible tasks

ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
