Summary

Our Newly built Neonatal Unit at QMC Nottingham University Hospitals along with City Hospital, is seeking adedicated and organised Housekeeper to join our friendly and supportive team.
About the Role
You will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of our busy neonatal service by:
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across the unit.
• Managing and replenishing medical and non-medical supplies.
• Handling and moving stores and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Providing a high standard of support to clinical staff, ensuring resources are readily available.
The post holder will provide comprehensive support as a member of the Neonatal team indirectly ensuring a high standard of care for babies and their parents/carers. This is achieved through procurement of supplies, and effective maintenance of clean equipment and supplies, to reduce the risk of infection and assure quality for patient care. The post holder will make a direct and positive contribution to the work of the multidisciplinary team, the patient and their relatives in the clinical area, as well as non-clinical environments and undertake identified non-nursing duties. The post holder will be expected to organise their own workload within the constraints of defined deadlines, and will assist the multidisciplinary team in implementing, maintaining systems and processes to improve productivity. The post holder will work across both campuses of the NUH Trust.

· Under the supervision of the Senior Neonatal Supplies Chain Housekeeping Assistants and Neonatal Procurement Administrator:



· To meet and greet all callers, families and parents to the neonatal unit, in accordance with the Trust values, beliefs and behaviours.

· Clean equipment, including incubators, safely and effectively to ensure timely availability for use in the clinical areas as part of infection prevention and control responsibility and managing flow of equipment.



· To support the Service with maintaining a clean supply of laundry specific to the Neonatal Unit.





· Check and re-stock procedure boxes on the Neonatal Unit in readiness for critical and urgent clinical procedures.



· Support clinical staff to set up spaces with equipment and supplies to receive sick newborn infants at admission.



· Support clinical staff to clear and clean area following discharge of infants from the clinical area, including cleaning incubators.



· Restock Newborn Life Support (NLS) boxes, prepare in advance and top-up four times a year.



· Physical effort is required for collection of store supplies and equipment and moving and handling of equipment.



· Communicate with MESU regarding repairs, updates and returns of medical equipment to ensure serviceable and useable in the clinical area.



· Organise the safe disposal of obsolete equipment.



· Use the chute system for pharmacy and specimens.



· To collect from pharmacy and other departments when required.



· To contribute the provision of all Supplies Services functions, ensuring the highest standards of service are achieved in support of the Trust’s objectives.



· Access and use Trust IT systems for procurement and logging requests in addition to maintaining up to date spreadsheets.



· Unpack and check delivered items against delivery/order information, take corrective action, maintains audit records.



· To contribute to regular progress and savings reports to the Neonatal Procurement Administrator.



· To develop and maintain a comprehensive product and services knowledge including suppliers and supplier markets.



· Maintain full and accurate records and filing systems of all contract work undertaken to ensure full transparency of process and required probity.



· Support trials of new products.



· Review with Ward Sister/Procurement Administrator



· Attend internal/external training programmes and meetings when required.



· To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.



· This role will under take shift work 7 days a week and will cover both days and in the future night shifts.
