Summary
The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to provide an effective project support to help the Black Country Pathology Service (BCPS) Pathology IT team deliver theirs and partner Trust plans.
The BCPS Pathology IT team are a national award winning team and provide technical and project management support to the pathology network in the Black Country. A new avenue for the IT team is to provide support to neighbouring pathology networks and Trusts to deliver transformation programmes and this role will be central to delivering that support.
The post holder will be Line Managed by the BCPS Transformation Lead and will work closely with the BCPS Integration Lead and members of the BCPS Pathology IT Team in providing Business as usual and project support for BCPS systems and projects.
The post holder will support the BCPS Integration Manager in all appropriate duties in the execution of supporting, maintaining and enhancing the BCPS Integration solutions and all related issues.
To support the development and improvement of procedures relating to BCPS Integration solutions in order to optimise and promote good practice.
To manage and monitoring the BCPS Integration solutions and provide regular reports for any IT related projects.
To support to the BCPS Integration Manager to ensure systems are functioning efficiently and that incident and problem management is properly delivered for the BCPS and the partner Trusts.
Generate reports where appropriate to identify trend analysis in issues and incidents highlighting critical areas to line management.
To Escalate, document and respond to issue escalations and complaints from within the BCPS, partner Trusts and external suppliers.
Manage project work relating to BCPS Integration and/or other systems where deemed appropriate by the BCPS Integration Manager.

To undertake the day to day management of the BCPS Integration solutions incident management including logging and monitoring support calls with external suppliers
To deal with both technical and process management of system integration throughout BCPS and partner systems.
Assist in the provision of administrative and technical resource to support projects ensuring agreed priorities are complied with.
To produce statistics and reports pertaining to incidents and problems including the development of Key Performance Indicators for activity.
Where applicable, ensure that corporate standards are adhered to and that these standards are appropriate for the function for which they were introduced.
Where required, assist managers in other teams within BCPS to meet agreed objectives, targets and deadlines.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of the BCPS Integration system specifically and other developments within the marketplace.
To assist in the management and monitoring of design, development and testing of new integration requirements and solutions
Undertake integration system testing to support roll out of upgrades to system etc.
To develop positive relationships with Managers and Operational Staff in all areas of BCPS and our Partner Trusts
Assist in the development and management of service improvement plan
Carry out maintenance checks on a daily basis, liaising with other linked system administrators as required. Resolution of often, complex issues under own guidance and judgement interacting on a technical level with internal resources and suppliers as needed in pursuit of solutions.
To monitor integration system issues and resolution with regular interaction with the Pathology Clinical IT leads, Helpdesk and other system owners where appropriate.
To provide monitoring of infrastructure platforms and escalate any issues to senior management or the appropriate technical services team.
To act as contact point for queries relating to the BCPS integration solutions and systems and seek appropriate authorisation for actions where needed.
Maintain appropriate communication with all levels of internal personnel and external agencies via face-to-face contact, telephone, e-mail or written methods. To lead and/or respond to detailed discussions between various parties including the interpretation and translation of complex technical information depending on the audience involved.
To liaise with systems suppliers and computer systems users to facilitate system integration development request or queries. To assist the BCPS Integration Manager with the evaluation of new developments and enhancements on behalf of the BCPS and the partner Trusts.
To work flexibly (if required) to make sure that implementations are covered out of standard office hours, note that this could involve supporting implementations during weekday evenings, across weekends or bank holidays. (Although it should be noted that this will only be required a small number of times per annum).
Work closely with other teams within BCPS and associated IT departments, to be able to understand and relate detailed information about the integration solutions as a whole, including its architecture and servers.
Communicate complex and highly interactive information to audiences at different levels. In all cases, information to be conveyed tailored to appropriate audience and with specific emphasis on high risk or urgent areas for action so that no issue is left unresolved.
To support understanding of integration specifications and HL7 messaging within BCPS.
This role will involve long periods of desk-based activity to complete much of its remit. This includes high levels of concentration on highly complex activities including analysis, reporting and diagnostics. Again, due to the nature of the work, interruptions can occur although generally infrequent as focus needs to be maintained. Where interruptions do occur, this is will often be due to the urgent nature of the requirement meaning that the post holder will need to switch between various levels of large volumes of complex information, assimilating this quickly and providing workable and comprehensive solutions where applicable before returning to more predictable working patterns.
Carry out duties in a safe manner as laid out in the Trusts Health & Safety Policy and Operational Guidelines.
Due to the nature of this role, the post holder will be given wide latitude to address the issues that may be encountered in support of the appropriate user groups as well as freedom to review and research new ways of improving and supporting the aforementioned users. This means that the post holder will often have opportunity to work under their own directive in support of daily activities and supporting end users. Sometimes this will be unsupervised work with a specific directive provided by the post’s Line Manager, other times this will include unsupervised work in which the post holder will be the lead needing to provide the directive, proposal, implementation and resolution.
Ensure that knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed internal policy and national guidelines in relation to Systems integration is maintained in a pro-active manner.
Promote good practice in relation to security and data integrity.
To be customer focused and to deal with user complaints appropriately and effectively
Any other duties and responsibilities within the range of the salary grade.
