Diagnosed with Autism; he has developmental delay, sensory processing disorder and is pre-verbal. We would love to have a PA that can enrich his life with fun and interest, help nurture his progress and form a great relationship over time.
We are hopeful to find a warm and caring person that can help support him and our family on weekends, school holidays and occasional evenings (with plenty of notice given).
Our criteria for a PA
• A PA with expertise/experience in SEN, to quickly learn and know how to support needs.
If you do not have the relevant Qualification then training will be available if you are willing to do this.
• We require a PA that can organise new and interesting sensory activities alongside the support of his family that have lots of recourses too.
• A PA with a car and driving licence to accompany days out to the park for walks and SEN stay and play groups.
• Support Speech and Language skills, model GRID AAC on his iPad, use simple language, symbols, choice boards and now and next boards.
• To support Occupational Therapy needs to help him learn recommended sensory circuits.
• To carry out Interventions such as play skills and sensory activities to encourage shared engagement.
• Help support with toileting skills, he is still in pads but is showing good skills at visiting the bathroom and learning these routines.
A bit more info about him…
Our little boy needs lots of reassurance to feel safe when out and about and usually chooses to stay in his pushchair for a feeling of security.
He uses PECs for requesting food, touches his AAC to request food too, he understands simple language he will lead and gesture to what he wants too.
He suffers from anxiety resulting in him showing distress in some situations needing koala hugs to avoid him pinching himself. He is currently under CAMHS for strategies to stop him pinching himself which are proving successful.
We are looking for a special person that wants to make a huge difference to a little person’s life and help them along their journey to reach their full potential. We would love to find someone that can help support him and our family. Most importantly, for their time together be fun proactive into making him thrive and develop.
