Summary

We are a specialist procurement agent that manages the entire procurement lifecycle for complex capital equipment projects. We operate in the Supply Chain, Logistics, and Procurement sector, providing value through expert service, project consolidation, and absolute reliability. Our target clients include UK public sector, multilateral development banks, diplomatic institutions, missionary organisations and private sector companies with large-scale industrial projects in Africa.

Role

We are currently seeking a Director of Sales and Business Development to join our executive team at our London office. This role will report directly to the Managing Director and is a senior leadership position responsible for designing and executing the company's entire commercial strategy.

You will be responsible for driving the company's growth and market expansion by originating and securing high-value procurement contracts. This role offers the opportunity to build the company's commercial function from the ground up, working closely with internal stakeholders such as the Director of Procurement, and representing the company at the highest level with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Who you’ll deal with:

Internal: Managing Director, Director of Procurement, and members of the sales and commercial team.

External: UK Public Sector Procurement Officers, Senior Managers of companies operating in Africa, Suppliers, and representatives of Multi-lateral Agencies (e.g., World Bank, UN).

What’s the purpose of role:

To define, direct, and take ultimate ownership of the company's commercial strategy, driving revenue growth and establishing the company as the leading procurement agent in our specialist markets.

What you’ll be doing:

Developing and taking ownership of the company's sales strategies and setting ambitious sales targets.

Leading the company's efforts to identify, qualify, and win tenders on UK public sector procurement portals and framework agreements.

Directing the expansion of the company’s client base in Africa, with a strategic focus on large-scale industrial projects.

Personally managing relationships with key strategic clients, stakeholders, and partners at an executive level.

Leading market research and analysis to provide strategic recommendations to the board on new opportunities and competitive positioning.

Building and leading the company's sales function, including the future recruitment and training of junior sales staff.

Clearly and concisely communicating commercial information to stakeholders at all levels.

Working closely with non-commercial colleagues to drive overall business performance.

Identifying and mitigating commercial risks.

What you’ll possess for this role covering Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

Essential

A proven track record of leadership in winning significant business through UK public sector procurement frameworks.

Executive-level experience in developing and closing complex, high-value contracts for projects located in African markets.

Direct experience with projects funded by multi-lateral development banks or agencies (e.g., World Bank, AfDB, UN).

A degree-level qualification is required.

An articulate, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with exceptional communication skills at all levels, including reporting and presentation.

Strategic leadership, P&L or revenue ownership, expert negotiation skills, and a demonstrable ability to build and lead a commercial function.

High integrity and openness combined with a commitment to good governance.

Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success.

Desirable

MBA / PhD with a focus on emerging markets is preferred.

Professional membership of a relevant body would be an advantage for this leadership role.
