St Nicholas Primary School is situated within the town of Broxburn and serves the local area. The setting consists of am, pm and full day learners aged between three and five. The ELC provides learning areas both inside and out in our outdoor garden area and within the local community of Broxburn. St Nicholas ELC falls under the management of St Nicholas Primary School, which is situated in the same building. The setting is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly on a rota across the opening hours.


St Nicholas ELC are seeking to appoint a highly motivated full time Early Years Officer to join our ELC team working in partnership with Head Teacher and Area Support Manager. The successful candidate will lead the forward thinking team to ensure that they provide high quality interactions and learning and teaching experiences. Take a lead role in self-evaluation of the center’s work. They should also have a sound knowledge of child development and respond to the individual needs of each child. Take the lead on implementation of best practice within the center.


This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account


This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
