The Role
Working in a busy revenues office, you will play a key part in assisting the manager of the business rates billing, valuation and support team with the supervision and support of team members. This includes providing advice to the billing officers and resolving some of the more complex enquiries both legislation and system based.
You will also have a lead role in reviewing reliefs and exemptions for business rates, in addition to managing data reconciliation across business rates and council tax systems.
This role is crucial in ensuring the maximisation of the collection of business rates, which is one of the council’s main revenue streams.
About You
We are looking for someone who has in-depth experience of working within a business rates environment. With demonstrable organisational skills, you’ll be expected to plan, develop and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines. You must possess excellent all-round communication and customer service skills, with the ability to be sensitive and diplomatic in challenging situations. Experience of using spreadsheets and good mathematical skills are also important to this role. Working as part of a team, you will be skilful at building and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues.
