Are you looking for an exciting and varied career within agriculture and the rural sector?
SAC Consulting is seeking an agricultural consultant to join its Oban team on a full-time basis. You will join a team of consultants to deliver advice to crofters, farmers and land managers across Argyll and the Isles. The successful candidate will need to be versatile, confident and be willing to be involved in a range of consultancy services.

We work progressively, backed by SRUC, to support rural enterprise in areas including livestock production, crofting regulation, business diversification, financial management, ecology, biodiversity, carbon management and funding schemes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical and business consultancy services to farmers and landowners in the Scottish Borders.
- Working as a team to motivate, support and develop each other.
- Building strong and trusted relationships with the farming and local community, suppliers, and industry bodies.
- Resourceful and engaged with the development of wider SAC
- Consulting services, working with teams across SRUC.
- Execution of project work funded both internally and externally.
- Representing SAC Consulting and SRUC professionally at meetings, events, and farming groups.
- Creating a work culture that encourages innovative ideas and solutions for customers.
- Identifying and developing commercial business opportunities.
Minimum qualifications and experience:
Significant practical post graduate experience in agriculture is required.
- Agricultural or Environmental Degree or equivalent with experience.
- Technical knowledge of West Coast farming systems.
- Competent user of Microsoft software including Windows, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Proven effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Full driving licence and own transport.
- Ability to travel away from home base when required to spend time on the Islands.
- Flexibility in the range of work undertaken.
The successful candidate will be educated to SCQF Level 8 or above in Agriculture or equivalent rural or science based qualification.
Eligibility for Sponsorship:
This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. If you are a migrant worker, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.
